Government Documents

Research Guide for Government Publications
The University of Southern Mississippi has been part of the federal depository library program since 1935. Through this program, the library has acquired a wide range of United States government documents that are essential in supporting teaching and research in many academic departments, schools and programs. U.S. government documents can usually be located by title in the library catalog.
The majority of U.S. government documents in physical formats (e.g., paper, microform, CD-ROM, DVD) are located in Cook Library, 2nd Floor South, on the Hattiesburg campus. These collections contain selected federal publications distributed by the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries as a whole make up one of eleven Federal Depository Libraries located throughout the state of Mississippi. As a Selective Depository, the library receives many of the government publications distributed by the GPO. The majority of these publications are now distributed online.
FDsys is an online portal for government information resources pertaining to the legislative, the judicial, and the executive branches of the federal government.
